Rio – Goalkeeper Fernando Henrique, 39, is no longer expected to play for Portuguesa. According to information from the “NetLusa” portal, the veteran, who was removed from the São Paulo club, after celebrating Fluminense’s Libertadores title on social media, should have his contract terminated.
Fernando Henrique was revealed by Fluminense, having been part of the tricolor squad that won the 2007 Copa do Brasil and the 2010 Brazilian Championship. He was also runner-up in the Libertadores with Flu in 2008. After winning the South American competition title with club, the goalkeeper celebrated on social media.
The situation went badly for Portuguesa, due to the 2013 Brazilian Championship. At the time, Lusa ended up being relegated to Série B, after irregularly fielding midfielder Héverton. The situation saved Fluminense from falling and also benefited Flamengo, who were also punished for irregularly fielding André Santos, and without Lusa’s punishment they would have ended up relegated.
After leaving Fluminense in 2010, Fernando Henrique played for other important clubs in Brazil such as Ceará, CRB, América-RN, Remo and Brasiliense. He arrived at Portuguesa this year.
