Tite opens the game about confidence in Flamengo, and admits mistake in defeat to Santos

After the victory over Palmeiras, Tite recalled the mistake in the defeat to Santos, in Brasília

Flamengo reached two consecutive victories in the Brasileirão. This is because, Rubro-Negro beat Fortaleza 2-0, last Sunday (05) and, this Wednesday (08), beat Palmeiras 3-0. Even with the two victories, coach Tite returned to remember the defeat of the Rio team, on November 1st.

Asked about how he treats the ‘mental health’ of athletes in order to motivate them for the games, Tite used the defeat to Santos as an example. During a press conference, the coach stated that he made a mistake in the aforementioned match, but highlighted the importance of trust and teamwork to sustain the stumbles.

— I made a mistake in the game against Santos because I repositioned the athletes in the dead ball and started to bring a more central positioning back. There was a rebound and that pressure positioning lengthened the score. I interfered wrongly. When we met, I said that the coach made a mistake. If I want a perfect athlete or they want a perfect coach, they will do another activity -, began Tite.

— I want us to have the confidence to admit mistakes without being a hero or a villain, to know that we are all responsible, but not guilty. If the coach says that, I will also make a mistake, but there will be a work team to support the error. Football is like that, life is like that -, finished.

With the victory over Palmeiras, in the 33rd round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo reached 56 points in the league table and, with that, once again dreamed of the competition title. However, even with the positive result, Tite once again preached ‘feet on the ground’ and maintained the plan drawn up since the beginning of work at Gávea: the initial objective continues to be a direct place in the Libertadores.
