After Flamengo’s 3-0 victory over Palmeiras, doctor Márcio Tannure made a statement to clarify the clinical situations of Allan, David Luiz and Gabigol.

Regarding the situation of Flamengo’s number 10, the club’s doctor said that Gabigol has an overuse injury in his adductors, which has been with him for a while. Tannure stated that he will perform a procedure at the end of the year with the athlete, if the pain does not worsen by then.

– Gabriel has enthesopathy. It is an overuse injury to the adductors. It’s not today. We had already diagnosed and made a treatment plan at the end of the year with a small regenerative medicine intervention, using orthobiologicals. We had been controlling the injury, at times he felt more pain, at other times he was asymptomatic. Given all this, with six games remaining, we decided to treat him and carry out the procedure at the end of the year. If by the end of the year the pain was disabling… At the moment it is not. If this increases to such an extent that we have to stop, we will stop and treat it.

– Allan had an injury on September 13th, he tore the plantar fascia of his left foot. As we notified, it was a period of eight to 12 weeks. Within that time, and in fact it hadn’t even completed the initial eight weeks, he had a chronic injury to his right ankle. We were scheduled to have surgery at the end of the year. Once he had this injury, we chose to bring forward this procedure on his right ankle to save time because he would already be stopped by the plantar fascia injury. We need a minimum amount of time to be able to support.

David Luiz’s situation is different. The Flamengo defender suffered a sprain in the match against Cruzeiro and should begin the transition to the field next week.

– David Luiz on October 19th, against Cruzeiro, had a serious sprain. He underwent tests and had a ligament rupture. He is progressing well, and we hope that the transition will begin next week. The deadline is six to eight weeks. There are mild, moderate or severe sprains. He is a unique professional, like Allan too.
