Pavlovich reveals positive side of being cast at the last minute to face Aspinall at UFC 295

Summoned at short notice to perform on November 11th at UFC 295, Sergei Pavlovich alleviated the ‘time’ factor to prepare to face Tom Aspinall for the interim heavyweight belt (up to 120.2kg.). Previously training to replace Jon Jones or Stipe Miocicthe Russian stated that the group of former champions strengthened their strategy to face the Englishman.

“You know, Stipe is more of a stand-up fighter, while Jon is more of a striker and grappler. Technically, if you combine these two together, we were practically preparing for Aspinall. So, we made some corrections, corrected some things in preparation. But, most importantly, we were prepared immediately”, declared Sergei in an interview with ‘CBS Sports’.

On his way to his first UFC title fight, Sergei is looking to secure his seventh consecutive victory in the organization after knocking out all of his last opponents in the first round. Despite the positive record and previous preparation, Russia’s standout is considered, by a small margin, as the underdog in the bookmakers for the confrontation.

Protagonists of the penultimate fight of the UFC 295, Pavlovich and Aspinall will face each other on November 11 for the interim heavyweight title. The company’s intention is for the winner to face Jon Jones or Stipe Miocic in 2024 for the linear belt of the category.
