Professor at UFMG, Gilcione Nonato Costa, analyzed several scenarios involving the celestial team in this final stretch of the Brazilian Championship
Without playing in the middle of the week, Cruzeiro, for now, just supports its direct rivals in the fight against relegation, in this 33rd round of the Brasileirão. This is because the duel against Vasco, which was supposed to take place in the next few days, was postponed until November 22nd. In 17th place, Raposa will still play seven more games until the end of the competition.
And to completely eliminate the risk of falling into Series B of the Brazilian Championship, the star team will have to improve its performance so far in the competition. The mathematician and professor at UFMG, Gilcione Nonato Costa, analyzed several scenarios involving Cruzeiro in this final stretch of the Brazilian Championship.
“There is still the possibility of a drop of 45 points. It’s small, but it exists”, warns the professor. “What is interesting to analyze in these clashes is that Cruzeiro has two special duels, which are against Goiás and Vasco. If he wins these duels, he reaches 43 points and if he manages to reach 45 points (with two more draws) he reaches only a 1% chance of falling”, highlights Gilcione.
On the other hand, the professor also points out a scenario that is not favorable for Fox. “Cruzeiro has something that is not positive for the club: the number of victories. When I do the simulations and compare them with Vasco and Bahia, for example, Cruzeiro comes out worst. If Bahia or Vasco have the same score as Cruzeiro, they have a greater chance of falling”, points out the mathematician.
