Sofia (Bulgaria) – Jack Draper’s week at the ATP 250 in Sofia continues with positive results. The 21-year-old Briton, ranked 82nd, advanced to the quarterfinals after beating Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the tournament’s top seed and 27th in the world, 7/5 and 6/2 this Wednesday.

This was Draper’s second victory over Musetti on the circuit, repeating last year’s result at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan. Furthermore, the Briton reaches his seventh consecutive victory on the circuitas he won a challenger in Bergamo last week.

After reaching 38th place in the rankings in January, Draper suffered from physical problems, abandoning his match in Indian Wells due to a muscle injury in the abdominal region and spending three months without playing due to an injured shoulder. His next rival will be Turkish guest Cem Ilkel, who defeated Australian Max Purcell 6/3, 4/6 and 6/4.

On the same side of the bracket, German Jan-Lennard Struff and Hungarian Fabian Marozsan advanced. 3rd seed in the tournament, Struff debuted by beating the British qualifier Billy Harris by 7/6 (7-5) and 6/4. Marozsan beat Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut 6/3, 3/6 and 7/6 (7-4).

No. 2 seed Adrian Mannarino won a left-handed duel in his debut. The 35-year-old French veteran passed Spaniard Albert Ramos with a double 6/4. He faces Austrian Sebastian Ofner in the quarterfinals, who beat Australian Christopher O’Connell 6/7 (6-8), 6/4 and 6/2.

Also this Wednesday, Hungarian Marton Fucsovics beat Austrian Jurij Rodionov 3/6, 6/4 and 6/1. He faces Russian Pavel Kotov, who had Argentine Sebastian Baez withdrawing due to a leg injury when the game was tied. The Argentine scored 6/3 in the first set, but lost the second set 7/6 (7-4).
