Itajaí (SC) – This Wednesday, the quarterfinals of the ADK Juniors Cup, the 14th edition of the Santa Catarina Tennis Cup, were defined on the clay courts of Itamirim Clube de Campo, in Itajaí. Among the highlights is Sthefany de Lima from São Paulo, champion in Salvador last Saturday and who scored her seventh consecutive victory.
Main seed and now in 206th place in the rankings at 17 years old, Sthefany beat Itajaí athlete Luisa Silvestre 6/1 and 6/4. Her next rival is 14-year-old Clara Elkind from Rio, who came from quali and defeated Paraguayan Catarina Delmas, eighth favorite, by double 6/3.
Also advancing was 13-year-old Nauhany Silva, who beat Bolivian Sara Parada 6/1 and 6/2 and will face home athlete Nathalia Reimer. The player from Itajaí has been making good use of the invitation received and beat Luiza Esteves by 3/6, 6/2 and 6/3.
In the other matches in the women’s group, Livia Daud faces Julia Viesi, while Isadora Sigrist plays against Laura Badia. With this, it is certain that a Brazilian will win the competition title.
In the men’s tournament, home athlete João Toffoli secured his place in the quarterfinals after beating Rafael Padilha 7/5, 4/6 and 7/5. He will have a national duel against Carlos Gonzales who defeated the fourth seed, Enzo Vargas, by 6/4 and 7/6 (7-2). On the same side of the bracket, Thiago Guglieri from Rio Grande do Sul confirmed his position as 2nd seed by beating Juan Etchecoin from Rio de Janeiro by 6/2 and 6/1. He faces Guilherme Barbieri, who beat Caetano Luzzi 6/0 6/3.
Paraguayan top seed Alex Vera defeated home athlete Mateus Yakasilo by 7/6 (7-5), 4/6 and 6/2. He faces Pedro Dietrich, who beat João Pimenta 7/5 and 6/2. Eduardo Valentin, third favorite, defeated Washington Junior by 6/4 and 6/1 and faces Henrique Queiroz, who defeated Enzo Crevelaro by 6/4, 4/6 and 7/5.
Rafael Ferreira in the quarterfinals in El Salvador
Head 2 of the ITF J30 in Santa Tecla, on hard courts in El Salvador, Rafael Ferreira guaranteed a place in the quarterfinals. He beat North American Dante Adriano Massetta this Wednesday by 6/2 and 6/1. The score was the same as the victory in the debut against Guatemalan Harold Hidalgo. His next rival is the Mexican from Juan Francisco Muñoz.
