Paulo Borrachinha did not give up facing Khamzat Chimaev at the UFC. After the organization’s president, Dana White, announced that the middleweight champion (up to 83.9 kg.), Sean Stricklandwill defend the belt against Dricus du Plessis in January, the Brazilian used social media to challenge his rival, who was left out of the title race.
Borrachinha and Chimaev had a fight scheduled for October, at UFC 294but the Brazilian had to withdraw out of the fight due to an elbow injury.
The Emirati then faced the welterweight champion (up to 77kg), Kamaru Usman, and won by majority decision. Dana White had promised that the winner of this duel would have the chance to challenge the middleweight champion, but changed his mind and opted for Strickland x Du Plessis.
New provocation from Borrachinha to Chimaev
Borrachinha, who hasn’t fought since August 2022, when he defeated the former champion Luke Rockhold, teased Chimaev on his “X” (formerly Twitter). The Brazilian once again called his rival a “Chechen gourmet” and accused him of pretending that he no longer existed.
“Send the Chechen gourmet back to me and force him to sign that contract again. If not, he will continue to pretend that I no longer exist on earth. Chechen gourmet with a little secret juice for dinner, in January!”, wrote the Brazilian, who is seventh in the middleweight rankings.
Chimaev, who is ranked eighth in the welterweight rankings, has yet to respond to Borrachinha’s challenge. The Swede, who has 13 wins and no losses in his career, has already won seven UFC victories, two by knockout and three by submission.
