According to data obtained by RD1, the São Paulo GP reached 7 ratings points in 2021, with a lead for 31 minutes. In 2022, the Grand Prix reached 5 points. This year, the fight on the track scored an average of 4 points.
By way of comparison, in 2008, when Felipe Massa, from Ferrari, was 1 point behind Lewis Hamilton, in the fight for the championship, Globo collected 33 points. In 2016, 8 years later, the average was 17 points. The following year, 14, and in 2018 and 2019 the audience was 13 points.
The low audience rating did not correspond to the enormous work done by Band to cover the event. Jogo Aberto and Os Donos da Bola had live editions from the broadcaster’s exclusive studio at the Autódromo de Interlagos, and this did enormous good for Friday’s audience.
On Sunday, even the 4 points from Formula 1 were enough for third place, with victory in the tenth in the fight with Record, something impossible with the normal grid.
