Coach Enderson Moreira, from Sport, posted an official statement on his social media profile talking about the team’s moment, on Sunday night. Leão has had two consecutive defeats in Series B and could leave the G-4 with three rounds to go in the fight for access. The coach signaled a goodbye after the Brazilian Championship and asked the fans to unite to deliver the club “back to the elite”.

At the beginning of the text, Enderson says that he learned to love Sport and says he is upset with the current situation in Series B – considering the team’s first half of good football. The coach admits mistakes and a moment of uncertainty, but asks that no one be blamed.

“Unfortunately, our reality today is one of uncertainty. Which is a blow for all of us. Our confidence is expected to be shaken, for us to rebel, for us to think the worst. ‘What happened to get us here?’, you guys they must question themselves. A lot has happened and it is clear that, along this path, there have been mistakes on all sides: my mistakes, those of the players, those of the committee.”

– However, now is not the time to name blame, to point fingers, to seek simplistic answers to complex questions. Now it’s time to face the challenge that lies ahead. In the face of uncertainty, what is certain is that reversing this situation only depends on us, our strength, our unity.

Next, Enderson calls on fans for the game against Atlético-GO, next Friday, and highlights the team’s fighting spirit when they went after the score – something that is recurring and which is the target of the main criticism.

“I believe it and I need you to believe it too. We need to stop for a moment and see the glass as half full. Have we been behind on the scoreboard in most of the last games? We have; and that is indeed worrying. However, every time this has happened, Our team didn’t shy away, our team showed courage and a lot of desire to win.”

The coach also asks the red and black fans for their unconditional support. And a vote of confidence to athletes whose self-esteem is shaken.

“You have every right to demand us, to demonstrate your dissatisfaction, to express your frustrations. However, at this moment, it is not this posture that will generate changes, it is not this posture that will drive us to achieve our objective. What I want to ask for – and what can really positively influence our results from now on – is your unconditional support.”

Towards the end of the speech, Enderson rehearses a farewell after Series B, when talking about future changes at the club. And he highlights the technical committee’s objective “to hand Sport back to the elite of Brazilian football”.

– I am very grateful for all the support that the president has given to our work, since the beginning, but I know that, for the next season, Sport needs changes, new ideas and constructions, and I am absolutely keen to ensure that this new project is thought of and carried out in the context of Series A, in search of new perspectives.

“So, you can be sure that all of us, from the technical committee and management, are very focused on being able to deliver to this club, which has a fantastic history, full of achievements and a lot of struggle, what it deserves: to be back in the elite of Brazilian football.”

It is rare that I use my social networks to speak out, but the moment we are living in today is extraordinary and I would like to address you directly, without intermediaries.

I wasn’t born Sport, but, along this path, I learned to love this club, a love that I will certainly carry with me for the rest of my life. I know what an honor it is to be in the position I occupy today and the strength of this club. Therefore, I can say that, like you, I am extremely disappointed and upset with our current situation in the Brazilian Championship. Given everything we did in the first semester, the excellence we showed on and off the field, our expectation was that, today, we would already be classified for next year’s Series A. This was not just a desire, but a conviction. However, football often surprises us, brings unexpected difficulties and very quickly changes the course of what we expected.

Unfortunately, our reality today is one of uncertainty. Which is a blow to all of us. It is expected that our confidence will be shaken, that we will rebel, that we will think the worst. “What happened to get us here”?, you may ask yourselves. A lot has happened and it is clear that, along this path, there have been mistakes on all sides: my mistakes, those of the players, those of the committee. At some point, we all make mistakes. And I take my responsibility in this. It’s been a while since I’ve been trying to modify various aspects of our game, make adjustments, test new options, but, somehow, we haven’t managed to reach a balance in the second half of the year. However, now is not the time to name blame, to point fingers, to seek simplistic answers to complex questions. Now it’s time to face the challenge that lies ahead. In the face of uncertainty, what is certain is that reversing this situation only depends on us, our strength, our unity.

Next Friday, we have a decisive game against Atlético Goianiense, a great team that is also in the fight for access. We are fully capable of beating them, of taking a crucial step in this dispute. But we need to believe this. I believe and I need you to believe too. We need to stop for a moment and see the glass as half full. Have we been behind on the scoreboard in most of the last games? We left; and that is indeed worrying. However, every time this happened, our team did not shy away, our team showed courage and a great desire to win. Our team competed, competed, fought until the end. Our team is very involved in this process and our objective is one: to return Sport to the place it deserves to be.

You have every right to demand us, to demonstrate your dissatisfaction, to express your frustrations. However, at this moment, it is not this stance that will generate changes, it is not this stance that will drive us to achieve our goal. What I want to ask for – and what can really positively influence our results from now on – is your unconditional support.

We have several athletes going through a difficult time, with their confidence and self-esteem shaken. They need that support, that strength, that vote of confidence. Our whole team needs it. You are always looking for the best for Sport, I know. And I say from the bottom of my heart, right now, this is the best you can do for Sport.

This does not mean that changes will not happen. Yes, they are necessary! We all recognize this. I am very grateful for all the support that the president has given to our work, since the beginning, but I know that, for the next season, Sport needs changes, new ideas and constructions, and I am absolutely keen to ensure that this new project is thought of and carried out in the context of Series A, in search of new perspectives. So, you can be sure that all of us, from the technical committee and management, are very focused on being able to deliver to this club, which has a fantastic history, full of achievements and a lot of struggle, what it deserves: to be back in the elite. of Brazilian football.

I deeply appreciate the affection I receive daily from the fans I meet on the streets and the trust they place in me and I hope that even those who don’t like the work, who have criticisms and reservations, can come together at this moment. I hope that, in this next game, you fill the Island, with your passion and excitement, and that it can be a very special moment. We will seek, throughout the 90 minutes, our victory, with great seriousness, dedication and courage.
