Flamengo players complained about a penalty not awarded by the referee in the game against Fortaleza – Rubro-Negro won 2-0 this Sunday. After Pedro’s kick, the ball hit Brítez’s left arm, and referee Anderson Daronco scored nothing. Detail: VAR did not review the move as it was off air.
At 11 min of the 1st half – shot from inside the area blocked by Pedro do Flamengo against Fortaleza
At 10 minutes into the first half of the match at Castelão, Darconco informed the players and coaches of both teams that the VAR was inoperative. The problem was with the monitor at the edge of the field, meaning the referee would not be able to see the images. A minute later, the controversial move occurred (see video above).
Pedro caught a rebound inside the area and shot across. Brítez stretched out, and the ball hit his arm. Daronco claimed that the arm made a natural supporting movement on the ground. Players, especially Arrascaeta and Pedro, complained about the decision.
VAR returned to operation shortly afterwards. At 14 minutes, the operation was normalized.
