Fluminense fans begin arriving in Laranjeiras to celebrate the Libertadores title | Fluminense

Rio – One day after the Libertadores title, Fluminense fans will be able to celebrate the competition title at the Laranjeiras stadium. Thousands of tricolors occupied the lawn since the early afternoon of this Sunday (5).

The official celebration with the presence of the squad and the cup will take place on the 12th, in the center of Rio, one day after the classic against Flamengo. Tricolor announced this Sunday afternoon the organization of the event. However, fans continued in Laranjeiras celebrating Saturday’s achievement.

Fluminense were champions of the Libertadores, last Saturday, at Maracanã, by defeating Boca Juniors 2-1. In addition to the party at the stadium, the tricolores celebrated the title at Cinelândia, where there was a big screen and an event organized by the city hall, and also in other parts of the city.

The title won by Fluminense was the first in the history of the Rio club in the competition. In 2008, Tricolor had been defeated by LDU in the tournament’s final on penalties, at Maracanã. At the time, the competition was decided in two games.

Germán Cano and John Kennedy were the main heroes of the conquest. The Argentine scored again and finished the Libertadores as the competition’s top scorer with 13 goals. The young man was once again decisive in the knockout stage and scored the goal that won the Tricolor title.
