Fans were already queuing up to enter the Autódromo de Interlagos this Sunday morning, hours before the start of the São Paulo Formula 1 GP. Despite the installation of a new gate at the circuit for this year, the queues were long. Some fans complained about the lack of information on finding their gates.
The large volume of people expected to access the São Paulo circuit, somewhere around 80,000 to 90,000 people this Sunday alone, was already a concern for the organization for this year’s race. So much so that the GP installed a new gate to facilitate the flow of fans in and out throughout the weekend.

“We opened a new gate to access the racetrack. Last year, we really had complex issues in terms of flows. We caught it. The event has grown a lot. The first year was a pandemic, we were small. In the second year, we saw a lot of growth. This year we intend to improve this a lot”, said GP CEO, Alan Adler, last week.
As usual, the surroundings of the race track have dozens of scalpers, trying to buy and sell tickets for the GP.
Motorsport fans who are on their way to Interlagos also need to worry about the sun. After Friday’s storm, the sun should dominate on Sunday, despite milder temperatures. Initially, the chance of rain for the race was 20%. Temperatures should not exceed 25 degrees.
Scare in the press room
At around 10:15 am, journalists present in the GP press room were shocked when a fire broke out. The small fire, in one of the electricity wires, was quickly contained by members of the Fire Department who are always present at the scene. According to the firefighter, a short circuit caused the incident.
The environment, full of computers and televisions, was filled with the smell of burning. There were no major consequences. And journalists were able to continue their work normally a few minutes later.
FAVORITES
One of the most exciting moments for fans at Interlagos this morning was the crowded arrival of Lewis Hamilton. The Englishman from Mercedes, this time, appeared dressed without the colors of the Brazilian flag. Acclaimed by fans, he wore a red tank top, matching the colors of his glasses. Friendly, he met some fans with autographs and photographs.
Another fan favorite is Max Verstappen. The three-time world champion is the strongest candidate to win this year’s GP, after standing out in the sprint race, with a calm victory on Saturday. The Red Bull Dutchman is looking for his second victory in São Paulo, after a modest sixth place in the 2022 race.
