Despite the rather poor season, Flamengo continues to be highly valued inside and outside Brazil. One of the club’s main attractions is the quality of its youth teams, which has generated considerable amounts over the years.
This time, Wesley is in the sights of English football. In an interview with ESPN, John Textor, owner of SAF do Botafogo, confirmed his interest in Flamengo’s right-back for England’s Crystal Palace.
– I like him. Wesley is a great kid. I want him at Crystal Palace.
Flamengo asks for no less than 35 million euros (around R$183 million at current prices) to negotiate the 20-year-old defender revealed by the club’s youth teams. The amount is divided into 25 million euros for the sale and another 10 million euros in goals.
If Wesley is traded for this amount, Mais Querido will make its third biggest sale in history, surpassing Reinier. The only athletes traded for higher values are Vinícius Júnior and Lucas Paquetá, respectively.
Top-3 biggest sales in Flamengo’s history:
- Vinícius Júnior – Real Madrid – 45 million euros
- Lucas Paquetá – Milan – 38.7 million euros
- Reinier – Real Madrid – 30 million euros
