Tite trains Matheuzinho as a ‘builder full-back’

Matheuzinho trained as a ‘builder side’ in some of Tite’s activities

Tite arrived at Flamengo with the mission of preparing the squad for 2024. One of the first changes proposed by the coach concerns Matheuzinho. This is because the right-back started training more frequently in the ‘builder-back’ position.

According to the Coluna do Fla report, Tite has also used Matheuzinho as a ‘builder wing-back’ in Flamengo’s activities — such a position requires Ninho’s creation to occupy more space in the center of the midfield to help create plays. The 23-year-old thus alternates between playing on the wing and playing on the wing inside midfield. For this second style of play, shirt number 34 was used by Tite in the last two duels.

THE FIRST EXPERIENCES

Tite used Matheuzinho against Grêmio and Santos. The young man entered the second half in both matches and played the role of ‘builder full-back’. Against the Gauchos, the number 34 replaced Arrascaeta and had his first contact with the position following the guidance of the new coach’s technical committee. It was 45 minutes on the field.

In the match against Santos, Matheuzinho replaced Wesley and was most of the time on the wing. However, in some moments of the 45 minutes active, the number 34 was instructed by Tite to play the role of ‘builder full-back’.

Since his time with the Brazilian national team, Tite has been a fan of full-backs who have the ability to build plays. No wonder, with the coach, Danilo, from Juventus (ITA), and Filipe Luís himself, now at Flamengo, they had space. Therefore, the Rubro-Negro left-back also teaches the youngster some lessons on what to do in the position.

The next appointment for Tite to use, or not, Matheuzinho is this Sunday (05). Flamengo faces Fortaleza at Arena Castelão, in the 32nd round of the Brasileirão. The match starts at 4pm (Brasília time) and, therefore, will be broadcast LIVE by Coluna do Fla.
