Stuttgart (Germany) – After a maternity break, German Angelique Kerber is on schedule for almost two months before her return to the circuit. Ten months after the birth of daughter Liana, she will be part of the German team at the United Cup in Perth and Sydney, playing alongside Olympic champion Alexander Zverev.

“Of course it is a completely different preparation for the Australian Open, simply because it takes three times as long as normal. But everything is going well. I still have a little time. When we fly to Australia after Christmas, I think I’ll be ready for the first games,” said the 35-year-old tennis player in an interview with Porsche Newsroom.

“I want to compete against the best players in the world and show the fans the best tennis possible. The love for this sport gives me enormous motivation”, added Kerber, who surrounded himself with trusted people for his return, resuming his partnership with coach Torben Beltz, with whom he reached the top in 2016.

The German highlights the security she has with Beltz on her team. “This gives me a lot of security and a certain inner peace, I know that there are people by my side who I can trust. Personally, it was very important to me. It’s not just the training, the entire daily routine has to be planned a little differently. I need the understanding and full support of people I can count on at any time.”
