Rising in Ultimate, Diego Lopes demonstrates a rush to reach greater heights in his career within the organization. Despite being scheduled to perform at UFC 295, on November 11th, the athlete says he is already eyeing a possible confrontation in the future. Standing out in the featherweight category (up to 65.7kg.), the Brazilian expressed interest in facing Bryce Mitchell.
“I have some names in the rankings that I want to fight. One of them, and I’m going to mention it because I love this fight, and that’s what I want, the hardest fights: a fight against Bryce Mitchell For me it would be very good, and it would motivate me a lot. He is a fighter who has good wrestling and jiu-jitsu. I want that kind of fight. I want fights that bring out the best in me”, said Diego in an interview with ‘MMA Junkie’.
When commenting on his next appointment, Lopes said he was ready to move up another step in the competition.
“I intend to win my fight on November 11th and hope to get into the rankings. I’ve already checked out the guys who are in the top 15, and a lot of these fighters are coming off losses. I’m not wishing them any harm, but maybe I can take someone’s place in the rankings. Then, next year, have at least three fights against good, quality candidates and then, at the end of 2024 or beginning of 2025, be considered as a candidate for the title. That’s my plan,” he concluded.
