For those who don’t know the geography of the city of São Paulo and its sporting history so well, there is a rivalry between clubs in the capital’s more upscale neighborhoods. Paulistano is located in Jardim América and is one of the oldest and most traditional, with historic achievements in basketball. On the other hand, São Paulo is located in Morumbi and has grown in recent years within the sport’s scenario. This is a story that goes back to the first decades of the last century.
But, leaving the historical issue aside, this holiday’s duel was of great importance for both teams to seek their first victory in the NBB 2023/2024. And it was Paulistano. It was a match that started with equal strength for half of the first quarter, but returned to balance in the first moments of the second. However, Tigre went on a run before the break and took no further notice of their opponent.
In the first period, 17 to 9 for Paulistano, in a quarter in which both teams were technically below expectations. Thus, little by little, the quality increased over time and the advantage increased slightly with 17 to 16 in the second period. Then, the home team prevailed and won 19-14 against Tricolor. The last period showed a São Paulo team that made a lot of effort, but did not react to the impressiveness of the opponent. 18 to 13 for the home team in the last quarter.
