New York (USA) – North American John McEnroe once again praised Swiss Roger Federer, highlighting the beauty of his playing style. On the podcast SmartLesshe said he would love to be able to face the owner of 20 Grand Slam titles on the most important stage in world tennis.
“It would be a dream to play against Roger at Wimbledon. Federer is the tennis player with the most beautiful style of play that I have ever seen”, said the former professional tennis player, who won three of his seven Grand Slam titles on the grass of the All England Club.
On the other hand, McEnroe said that he would need a completely different duel with Spaniard Rafael Nadal. “It would be a nightmare to play against Rafa at Roland Garros, although I grew up on clay and that was my best surface until I became a professional”, joked the North American
Still about Nadal, the former world number 1 spoke about his physical composition being different from most. “He is not the typical or prototypical tennis player. His body is bigger at the top,” noted McEnroe, suggesting that this is one of the reasons for the Mallorca southpaw’s dominance in clay-court tournaments.
