Paris, France) – Russian Andrey Rublev showed why he is one of the main tennis players of the season and one of the five already qualified for the ATP Finals. This Thursday, he defeated Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp with authority, scoring a double 6/3 in just 64 minutes and securing himself in the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters 1000.
This was his 20th victory of the season in Masters 1000, something that only three other players managed to do this year: Carlos Alcaraz (with 25 victories), Daniil Medvedev (25) and Jannik Sinner (21). He is also one of the champions at this level in 2023, triumphing on the clay of Monte Carlo, where he won the biggest title of his career so far.
In the quarterfinals in Paris, the Russian will face Australian Alex de Minaur, benefiting from Sinner’s withdrawal, who was angry with the organization of the tournament after leaving the court after 2:30 in the morning and not having enough rest time for his next match.
Serving very well, the Russian won 76% of his service points in the match and was not broken even once, saving the only break point he faced. On the other hand, he managed to win 40% of the return points and converted three of the four break chances he had. Rublev also scored 19 winners and just 4 unforced errors.
