Santos beat Flamengo 2-1, this Wednesday (1/11), in the 31st round of the Brasileirão. The game at Mané Garrincha, in Brasília, started with Rubro-Negro taking the lead with Pedro, who reached his 100th goal for the club. But Santos drew with Nonato and, as they had one more from the 41 in the initial stage (Gerson expelled), they completely dominated the final stage. Fla held on as best they could, but took the turn in the 44th minute, with a beautiful goal from defender Joaquim, with a mistake from goalkeeper Rossi.
The result complicated Flamengo’s situation towards a place in the Libertadores, as they stopped at 50 points, in sixth place. And for the next match, against Fortaleza, there will be no Gerson and Bruno Henrique (who was also sent off at the end). Santos now breathes a sigh of relief. It was 37 points and lost to the Z4.
Flamengo sent its game to Brasília, as Maracanã is being prepared for the Libertadores final, this Saturday (4/11), between Fluminense and Boca Juniors.

The game started well for Santos, who forced the ball to score and recovered the play on three occasions, in one of them, Nonato took advantage of Luiz Araújo’s error and almost scored from outside the area. Despite some initial nervousness (Rossi did poorly), Mengo started to find their balance, with Gerson falling to the right and interfacing with Wesley and Arrascaeta, despite the marking, finding Pedro. In the first one he received from the Uruguayan, the attacker kicked the ball to João Paulo’s defense. In the second, a corner in the 20th minute, Arrasca took it, Leo Pereira brushed the ball Pedro made it 1-0, leaving to celebrate his 100th goal for Mengo.

It was yellow, but the referee went to VAR and changed it to red. Flamengo with ten for the second half.
Fla came from the break with three changes. Wesley, Luiz Araújo and Pedro left for Matheuzinho, Victor Hugo and Gabigol. But pretty bad. Totally involved by Santos, who practically rented the attacking midfield, the way Tite arranged was to close the defense with another defender (Rodrigo Caio) in Arrascaeta’s place. The team improved behind. But without Gerson and Arrascaeta, there was no more creation. Furthermore, Gabi was in very bad shape. He was seen just taking one more silly card for his CV. In the 44th minute, Joaquim took a risk from outside the area and Rossi accepted. It was Santos’ turnaround. Mengo lost his head once and for all and Bruno Henrique was sent off for complaining.
