John Textor, owner of SAF do Botafogo, immediately after the end of the 4-3 defeat to Palmeiras, said that the Rio club was robbed and demanded the resignation of the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, for the arbitration.

John Textor fires against CBF and arbitration: “This is corruption, this is theft”

– The whole world saw it, this is not a red card. He (Adryelson) got the ball first. I’m not even sure if it was a foul. But it’s not a red card, he changed the game. This is corruption, this is theft. Please fine me, Ednaldo, but you need to resign tomorrow morning. That’s what needs to happen. This championship has become a joke. Nobody deserves this, these Palmeiras players don’t want to win like that, we don’t want to lose like that. There are five games in a row. Gentlemen, you played a good game, it’s not your fault, but this is corruption.

– This needs to change. Ednaldo, you need to resign for the good of the game. This needs to end. This is theft, fine me. You can’t expel me, it’s my stadium, I’ll stay here – said Textor, in an interview with the Premiere channel.

Confusion at the exit of the field

John Textor clashed with the referee and made a money sign to the refereeing team. There was confusion between managers when leaving the locker room with the team that refereed the match. Botafogo players also complained a lot.

Botafogo opened 3-0 in the first half, at Nilton Santos, and completely dominated the first 45 minutes. However, in the final stage, Endrick changed the match. The 17-year-old boy scored for Palmeiras. Afterwards, Adryelson was sent off, following a VAR review, which outraged the black and white players.

The Rio team had the chance to score Botafogo’s fourth and put an end to Palmeiras’ reaction, but Tiquinho Soares missed a penalty. Endrick cashed again, making his second. Then, Flaco López tied the match, and Murilo turned it around in the last play of the game.

Botafogo remains at the top of the competition, with 59 points in 30 games. The distance to Palmeiras, in second place, with the victory, fell to three points, but the team from São Paulo has one game more.
