Confirmed as the next challenger for the straw belt (up to 52.1kg.), Amanda Lemos talked about the expectation of the biggest commitment of his career. champion’s opponent Weili Zhang at the UFC 292, the Brazilian hopes that the confrontation will be defined in the fast lane. In an interview with podcast ‘Frank Exchange’, the athlete spoke on the subject.
“Weili is explosive. She likes to win in the fast lane, as do I. So let’s heat up the octagon. I will go up there to win. I have a good strategy and I’m sure I’ll leave the octagon with the belt. … I need to be alert at all times. It will be a very tough fight. Let’s do our best. She wants her belt, and I want it for myself. Certainly, it will not be decided by the judges”, stated Lemos.
Current number four in the straw ranking, Amanda qualified for the dispute after two consecutive victories in the fast lane. With knockout power and ability to submit opponents, the athlete could become the second Brazilian to wear the belt in the group.
In her second reign as champion of the category, Zhang prepares for her first title defense. The Chinese reassumed the throne after going through Carla Esparza at the end of 2022.
