Ferrari’s start to the 2023 season is the complete opposite of the previous year. If in 2022, the Maranello team opened up an advantage in the competition and was considered a favorite for the title, the same cannot be said now, with fourth place in the constructors’ championship, 146 points behind leader Red Bull.
In conversation with the Monaco Matin newspaper, Charles Leclerc explained that Ferrari found problems in the philosophy of the car. In addition, the Monegasque pointed out that Red Bull’s initial difficulties in 2022 led the Austrian team to improve and recover in the championship.
“I think the targets set last year for the engineers were not good. During 2022, Red Bull took a big step forward. They’ve improved a lot more, especially when it comes to race pace. If you ask me, this is more a problem in the philosophy of the car than a development problem. [com a Ferrari]”, pointed out Leclerc.
This weekend at home, Leclerc is looking for better results, since on the streets of Monte Carlo the speed itself, something that Red Bull has in abundance on the straights, is not a decisive factor, but the precision when driving the track. .
