Alex Pereira is coming off a tough defeat to Israel Adesanya, suffered in April, but he continues to be popular with fans and even with Dana White. The Brazilian got extra incentive to face Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291, an event scheduled to take place in July, in Utah (USA), after being praised by the leader of the largest MMA organization in the world.
In an exclusive interview, Dana briefly praised ‘Poatan’ for his professional attitude in the UFC. It is worth pointing out that, constantly, the top hat enters into a collision course with renowned athletes due to the difficulty in negotiating fights, due to the demands that they make of him to act in the octagon and emphasizes that, many times, what is said by them in public, not confirmed behind the scenes.
However, the UFC leader classifies the Brazilian as a fighter who doesn’t give him any trouble. Including, the businessman showed optimism about what the striker can yield in the new category, indicating that he was right in the decision to change the middleweight (84 kg), division that came to lead in 2022, for the light heavyweight (93 kg).
“He is easy to deal with. Moving up in weight is probably the right move for him. Obviously, he’s coming up to light heavyweight with a very tough fight against Blachowicz, but fun. It must be an incredible fight. We’ll see how he performs at light heavyweight,” declared the top hat.
After suffering a brutal knockout to Israel Adesanya in the immediate rematch valid for the UFC middleweight title, Alex Pereira didn’t take long to speak out and announced his decision to move up to light heavyweight. In his first appearance in the category, ‘Poatan’ faces Jan Blachowicz, former champion and current number three in her ranking, and, if he wins, he is already close to a possible belt dispute.
