Recently, Ralf Schumacher claimed that Helmut Marko had a problem with the Schumacher name, as last season Mick did not receive any offers from AlphaTauri after his departure from Haas was announced.
The Austrian responded to the German’s comments: “I have no problem with the name Schumacher. The only thing that Ralf ignores is that our program at AlphaTauri is focused on junior riders and the main priority is performance”, countered Marko.
Currently, the vacancy at AlphaTauri is Nyck de Vries. The Dutchman drew attention at Monza last year when he replaced Alex Albon at Williams, however, De Vries has not performed as expected.
It was even reported that Nyck had received an ultimatum from Red Bull to improve results. On the issue, Marko said: “The expectations placed on him have not materialized so far. And of course we also discussed this with him,” Marko told Motorsport-Magazin.
“Now on the calendar there will be circuits that he knows. So let’s see how he does and then we’ll discuss and possibly make a decision.”
