Vasco recently notified Getafe and Porto about the possibility of paying an indemnity if they want to hire Eric Pimentel. The 20-year-old defender has a contract only until the beginning of July and said he has no interest in renewing.
The Spanish club responded to Vasco that it has no ongoing negotiations with the player. Faced with the silence of the Portuguese, the Vasco legal department reinforced the warning and is still awaiting a response. Pimentel is training separately from the under-20 squad.
Understand why Vasco tries to renew with defender Pimentel
Vasco has taken legal action and prepared the ground to charge a fine if Pimentel agrees with a club. The interests of Getafe and Porto were reported by the press in recent weeks. This Thursday’s edition of the Portuguese newspaper “A Bola” takes the transfer to Porto for granted.
The Pelé Law gives the training club the security of presenting a counter-proposal in case another team shows interest in the player. Article 11 reads as follows:
“If the training sports practice entity offers the same conditions, and, even so, the athlete opposes the renewal of the first special sports work contract, it may demand from the new contracting sports practice entity the indemnity amount corresponding to, at most, , 200 (two hundred) times the value of the monthly salary contained in the proposal”.
As the initial salary offered by Vasco in the most recent proposal was R$ 20 thousand per month, compensation could reach R$ 4 million. Pimentel’s refusal in response last week serves Vasco as proof that the decision not to renew came from the player.
Vasco understands that it is entitled to this compensation even if Pimentel agrees with another team after the end of his contract. The defender’s bond ends on July 6.
