Lewis Hamilton praised Vini Jr’s courage, when responding to the racist attacks he has received in Spain. The seven-time world champion Formula 1 revealed that the situation was a trigger for him to remember similar moments he lived.
“It’s devastating to think that in 2023 we are still seeing and hearing these things (…) It really hits me, it really brings emotions about the things I experienced, whether it was in the UK or when I was racing in Italy, France or Spain . I think he’s been incredibly brave,” Hamilton told a news conference.
Vinícius Jr is engaging the cause against racism on social media. The player stated that “the championship that belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Messi, nowadays belongs to racists”, claiming that Spain is colluding with the attacks on the number 21. On the same day, Hamilton shared Vini Jr’s post on his social network and declared support for the Brazilian.
