Orlando (USA) – The only Brazilian in the ITF W25 in Orlando, Rebeca Pereira debuted with victory in the tournament on hard courts in the United States. Rebeca and the Taiwanese Chieh-Yu Hsu won this Tuesday the North American Ashley Lahey and the Russian Maria Kozyreva by 7/5 and 6/3.

At 29 years old, Rebeca Pereira is currently ranked 204th among WTA doubles specialists. She reached a career-high in July of last year, when she was ranked 157th. The victory in the debut already earns a place in the quarterfinals and 9 points in the ranking. The tournament gives 50 points to the champions.

The next opponents could be the North American will be the Japanese Rina and Yukina Saigo, who beat the North American Francesca Di Lorenzo and the Mexican Marcela Zacarias, heads 2 in Orlando, by 6/7 (4-7), 6/4 and 10-8. In case of a new victory, the Brazilian will receive 18 points for a place in the semi.

This is the third tournament in the season that Rebeca Pereira competes. In the last two weeks, she played in two ITF W25 on clay in Buenos Aires, alongside 18-year-old Ana Candiotto from São Paulo, reaching the quarterfinals in one tournament and falling in the debut of the other. The tennis player also tried two singles qualis and managed to pierce one of them.

Another Brazilian competing in a doubles tournament this week is Ingrid Martins, from Rio de Janeiro, who plays for the ITF W60 in Andrezieux-Boutheon, on hard and indoor courts in France. Ingrid and Russia’s Alena Fomina-Klotz are seeded 2 at the event and will debut on Wednesday against Dutch Isabelle Haverlag and Romanian Cristina-Andreea Mitu. The tournament is worth 80 points in the ranking and a victory in the debut already earns 15 points.
