Employees working at TangoGameworks, producer of Hi-Fi Rush, are understandably experiencing surreal moments. Throughout the first months of 2024, his game was crowned with several awards, including a BAFTA, but a month later the producer was closed by Microsoft Gaming.

After Microsoft Gaming’s top executives shared the most beautiful praise for Hi-Fi Rush and described it as an example of the creative diversity possible for the future, the closure of TangoGameworks certainly generated immense surprise, but for employees the surprise was much greater. Especially after reading that one of the top executives allegedly said they want smaller-scale games that win awards.

In Microsoft Gaming’s most recent meeting with employees, shortly after the closure of the four studios, Matt Booty, leader of Microsoft Gaming Studios, allegedly said that one of the objectives is to bet on games capable of winning prizes.

This led Kazuaki Egashira, who worked as a project manager at TangoGameworks, to share images of the various awards won by Hi-Fi Rush. The images shared on social network X were accompanied by the question “aren’t they enough?”

Hi-Fi Rush was one of the most beloved games by the Microsoft Gaming community in recent years, winning several prestigious awards for the company, but not even that saved the studio.
