This Friday (2 January 2024), the United States carried out attacks in Syria and Iraq against the bases of groups supported by Iran. The attack is part of the North American response to the attack that killed 3 of the country’s soldiers and injured 25 others . The information is from New York Times.

The action was carried out by air and targeted intelligence centers, underground shelters and command operations. The targets of the attack were used by the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic and Revolutionary Guard Corps and militias financed by the Iranian regime. However, there is still no confirmation whether the targets were reached.

On Monday (Jan. 29), Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said the United States would take necessary measures in defense of the country after the deaths of the 3 officers. The Iranian government denies participation in attacks against Americans.

ATTACK

Three US soldiers were killed and 40 others injured on Sunday (Jan 28) in a drone attack that hit a base in northeast Jordan, near the border with Syria. The information was released by the US Central Command. Here is the full statement, in English (PDF – 85 kB).

Biden blamed Iran for the action. “While we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by Iranian-backed radical militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq.”said in an official statement.
