A man is suspected of shooting his own five-year-old son and his ex-wife’s partner, at the entrance to a school in Claro dos Poções, in the North of Minas. After the attack, he shot himself in the head.
According to initial information from the Military Police, the father and mother of the five-year-old boy are in the process of a custody dispute, and the motivation for the crime may be linked to the fact that he does not accept the end of the relationship.
“Around 1 p.m., the child’s father waited for the moment when his ex-wife’s current father arrived to deliver the boy to the Municipal Early Childhood Education Center – Cemei Tia Naza. When he saw the two of them, the man shot the child and her stepfather,” said Sergeant Joelson Bertoldo.
Still according to information collected by the PM, upon realizing that he was being followed by the suspect and that he had fired twice, the child’s stepfather asked the doorman for help, who opened the gate, and then the man fired again. The victims were on their bicycle when they were hit. The police also reported that when the two were lying on the ground, the man pulled the child by the hair and threw his clothes at range, then shot the boy’s stepfather.
The PM said that the suspect lived in Serro. About six months ago, permanent custody was passed on to the mother. During this time, he visited the city, but did not visit the child.
SAMU and firefighters also arrived at the scene to assist the victims.
