A few years ago, the expression “Big Four of Thrash Metal” emerged, which gives its name to a group made up of big names in that style: Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer, all from the United States of America. The four bands played some shows in Europe between 2009 and 2010, on a tour that was certainly memorable and unforgettable for many Thrash fans.
The “Big Four” was one of the topics discussed during a recent interview that Scott Ian, Anthrax guitarist, gave to Dave Ling, co-founder of Classic Rock magazine. Dave asked Scott if there should be a “Big Five” or “Big Six” of the style that consecrated Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth and Metallica.

“For me, Exodus should have been mentioned in that same group. They started in 1979 as a covers band, two years before us, Metallica and Slayer,” said the guitarist.
“Whoever coined that term should have included Exodus. They were there at the beginning and I still think that, with ‘Bonded By Blood’, they made the best debut album of the five of us”, added the leader of Anthrax, who recently passed through Brazil and played a memorable show at Summer Breeze Brasil, a festival that also featured Exodus.

Anthrax is working on their next studio album, which is the successor to “For All Kings” (2016) and does not yet have a release date.
