A constant figure on Whiplash.Net, journalist and music critic Regis Tadeu likes different genres of music. However, Regis is not a big fan of Power Metal and Symphonic Metal, styles that have many fans (including in Brazil) and have established bands such as Helloween, Stratovarius, Nightwish and Epica.

Regis participated in the Ibagesncast program in June 2022 and spoke about what he considers to be the worst Power Metal bands.
“Blind Guardian, boring and pretentious. In fact, all these bands make a very boring, pseudo grandiloquent and pseudo pretentious sound. I think it’s terrible. Blind Guardian, Masterplan (…). Gamma Ray, Unisonic are boring as hell”, said Regis , which talked about two bands that aren’t exactly Power Metal.
“Another metal sword that will leave the fans of your podcast outraged… King Diamond and Mercyful Fate is very boring. It’s not even Power Metal, but it’s just as boring.”

Upon listening to Regis’ answers, presenter Manoel Santos mentioned the name of the Finnish band Sonata Arctica.
“Terrible, terrible. Not even the members’ parents like that rubbish”, commented the journalist, who finally spoke about Symphonic Metal, which is the cousin of Power Metal, but which received a violin and enrolled in an opera singing class.
“God, this is really annoying, man. For the love of God. It can’t be done. Symphonic Metal is already a separate case of boring, because there are always those pseudo divas. One of the coolest things that happened to Tarja Turunen was her being kicked out of Nightwish. She makes some cool solo albums (…).

And then there are the Nightwish derivatives, which is Within Temptation, what else?” asked Regis. Then, Manoel mentioned the name of a great representative of Symphonic Metal, which apparently is not among Regis’ musical preferences.
“Our Lady. Man, I’d rather wash my eyes with ground glass than listen to an Epica album. And I listen, because for me to speak badly, I need to hear it.”
