In the world of Heavy Metal, especially the Brazilian one, few albums have managed to leave a mark as profound as “Schizophrenia”, by Sepultura. Now, decades since its original release in 1987, fans are pleased to witness a new interpretation of this sonic monument, courtesy of brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera. A proof of this release came out today, the 30th, through the single “Escape to the Void”. The cover again features a reinterpretation by artist Eliran Kantor.

With its release scheduled for June 21st via Nuclear Blast, the re-recording of “Schizophrenia” is an event that took everyone by surprise. Max and Iggor, original members of Sepultura’s legendary lineup, have reunited once again to revive the tracks that helped define a generation and solidify the band’s status as a global metal powerhouse. After the re-recordings of “Bestial Devastation” and “Morbid Visions”, which caused total astonishment among fans, a re-reading of “Schizophrenia” again creates controversy.

Cavalera’s decision to revisit “Schizophrenia” is more than a simple act of nostalgia. It’s an opportunity to reinterpret and revitalize an album that shaped the course of Brazilian heavy music. With decades of experience since the original release, Max and Iggor promise to bring new depth and intensity to each song, whilst remaining true to the raw essence that made the album so captivating. It is possible that such a release will anger more radical fans, but the result of the single “Escape to the Void” gives us a good sample of what to expect from the full album. The album also features the previously unreleased “Nightmares of Delirium”.
