The long California Scheminwhich marks the debut of James McAvoy as a director, he has just gained his protagonists. The duo Samuel Bottomley (How to Have Sex) It is Séamus McLean Ross (Outlander: Blood of My Blood) will star in the film.

Read the synopsis: At the end of the 90s, Gavin Bain (McLean Ross) and Billy Boyd (Bottomley) find their musical ambitions constantly being ridiculed because of their accents. The duo then decides to risk everything and dive into rap. McAvoy’s film will show how the pair re-recorded their own tracks with fake accents and showed up in London claiming to be an established duo on the California scene, as well as childhood friends of Eminem. The duo quickly gets a record deal, a good amount of money, and an appearance on MTV… until everything comes crashing down.

Currently, the film is in the pre-production phase, and is inspired by Gavin Bain’s autobiography. The story has already been adapted into a documentary The Great Hip Hop Hoax. The cast also includes McAvoy himself, who in addition to directing, will play a supporting character.
