Bad Boys (1995) and the campy sequel Bad Boys II (2003) are available to stream for a marathon.

Will Smith had a mega success in the mid-90s with the first Bad Boys film, whose sequel was only released eight years later. If you want to watch King of Mischief Michael Bay’s Bad Boys and Bad Boys II in one sitting, you have the opportunity to do so with a subscription to Netflix. The sequence, in particular, is a perverse exaggeration that goes beyond the limits of good taste.

Watch the action marathon: Bad Boys II couldn’t be done the same way today

In these blockbusters, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence play the police duo Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, who are working for the Miami Police Department. Bad Boys films are not only characterized by their gripping action, but, above all, by the quarrelsome humor between the stars.

After the first part was a huge hit, Michael Bay received a bigger budget for the second part. The director used the $130 million for a two-and-a-half-hour excessive action film that presents itself as a cynical battle of material with incredibly wicked humor and crude interludes.

It’s a horror show, full of headshots, sexist clichés, body bags strewn across the street and a particularly insipid hide-and-seek sequence that pushes all limits of good taste. In the major Hollywood studio system, an action blockbuster like Bad Boys II in this format would be unthinkable to be conceived today. The third film in the franchise, Bad Boys for Life (this time, without Michael Bay) is also available on Netflix.
