
The fourth part of a horror series that has been a box office success for 13 years is available on Netflix.
Horror can be an absolute box office magnet. At least the Insidious film series proves that, with five films since 2010 when James Wan directed the first, all becoming hits. The fourth chapter, Insidious: The Last Key, is available for streaming on Netflix and takes the series back to its scary roots.
Horror on Netflix: a success that earned 17 times (!) its budget
The Last Key revolves around the medium Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye), who fans of the franchise already know from previous episodes. A paranormal phenomenon takes her to the house she grew up in, where a demonic being confronts her with a long-suppressed trauma.
According to The Numbers, the Supernatural series has already grossed more than 700 million dollars at the worldwide box office. The Last Key is no exception to this success story: with a production budget of 10 million, the fourth film generated an impressive revenue of 172 million.
