According to The Direct, Disney’s latest animation, ‘Wish: the Power of Desires’, has caused considerable repercussion among the public, mainly due to its similarity with 2D animations. Since ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’, in 2011, the studio completely abandoned traditional animations in its productions. However, the co-director of ‘Wish: the Power of Desires’, Chris Buckrevealed whether Disney Animation would consider creating new films in 2D.
“I believe so, absolutely. This film was obviously inspired by legacy and 2D animation. And the appearance has a bit of a 2D feel with the lines on the characters. We did initial tests with Star in 2D. But yes, I think we continue to explore.” Chris Buck for The Direct.
The new film, ‘Wish: the Power of Desires’, despite being in 3D, it presents a visual style similar to 2D, receiving positive reviews for this characteristic.
Unfortunately, in 2013, Disney laid off almost its entire traditional animation division. Given this, it’s difficult to see how there will be a return to 2D designs in the coming years. Himself ‘Wish: the Power of Desires’although it appears to have 2D characteristics, it is a 3D animation.
