“Hugh is a huge fan of Ryan and Ryan knows what an opportunity it is to have Wolverine co-star in a Deadpool movie. Both guys are always trying to set each other up to win and I will say this, because Ryan was also my fellow writer on this movie and is my fellow producer on this movie at all times, Ryan is amazing at wanting Deadpool to lose,” explained the director about the events of Deadpool 3.

“The truth is, Deadpool is amazing, but he’s deeply flawed and Wolverine is Wolverine, so I’ll just say that as a 360-degree creative force, Ryan operates from a position of: ‘What will be most satisfying to the story?’, not like ‘Well, I need to get the same number of victories and punches on the other character'”, he explained.

After his “farewell” to the character in Logan (2017), when the mutant ends up dying at the end of the story, Hugh Jackman returns to the role of Wolverine in Deadpool 3.
