Actress Halle Bailey, the ariel from the new movie live action from Disney, The Little Mermaid, commented in a recent interview on how the learning process was to swim with the mermaid’s tail.
In an interview with The Wrap, Bailey commented on her training to do the underwater scenes, thanking the synchronized swimming team that helped her train for the role.

“I had this beautiful workout with these amazing synchronized swimmers who came to my house every Sunday,” explained the actress. “They are great trainers and powerful women. And they took me through the beginning stages of how to look like a mermaid in the water and the gracefulness required for that.”

The Little Mermaid tells the story of Ariel (Halle Bailey), a mermaid princess who falls in love with a human prince and trades her voice for legs to live on the surface.
