“armageddon” is an adventure film about a bumbling team and an asteroid that is on its way to Earth. The film was released in 1998 and features a strong cast, with Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, among other big names.
But what we didn’t know until now is that one of the actors in the film said he regretted making it; I wonder why? Keep reading and we’ll tell you everything about it.
Who is the actor and what was the motivation for such regret?
“Armageddon” tells the story of a totally unprepared team that is recruited by NASA to prevent the destruction of Earth. This is all after the discovery that an asteroid the size of Texas is on a collision course with the planet. The truth is that the film was not critically successful, however, it was very popular among the public who are fans of science fiction.
As a result, during an interview with The Guardianthe actor Jason Isaacs (Captain Hook from “Peter Pan” and Lucius Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” franchise) recalled what it was like to participate in “Armageddon” with Willis. He further stated that he had a great deal of regret about the film.
That’s because, according to Isaacs, he originally received the proposal to be one of the astronauts in history, that is, a bigger role than what he ended up receiving in fact in the feature. But he had to refuse, given that he was recording another film.
Thus, at the time, his agents did not understand him very well, mainly due to the fact that he was refusing to act together with the star. Bruce Willis.
In the interview, Isaacs stated:
“I was offered a bigger role as an astronaut, but I was about to start filming ‘Last Words,’ and my American agents couldn’t understand why I didn’t give it up to star opposite Bruce Willis.
So I ended up acting in a consolation prize, and I had to stand on set next to Bruce Willis for six months while astronauts paraded past, thinking, ‘That could have been me in one of those jumpsuits.’
In any case, thanks to his undoubted talent, Jason’s career took off and he had great successes.
