An 18-year-old died this Sunday during a motocross disputed in Itabirinha, Minas Gerais. Douglas Nunes Andreattaa resident of Colatina, Espírito Santo, competed with more than 100 other drivers in a race valid for the Copa Norte.
The accident happened shortly after the start and was recorded by the audience filming the event. Douglas lost control of the vehicle, flipped his motorcycle and was stretched out on the road. One of the pilots even stopped and asked for help immediately. Douglas was attended by a health team at São Lucas Hospital and taken to the emergency room, but he couldn’t resist.
The body was taken to the city hospital for death certificate. According to the medical bulletin, Douglas may have died from a skull fracture and a spinal cord injury. After the accident, the place was cordoned off by the police and the Copa Norte stage was interrupted.

In a statement, the city hall of Itabirinha regretted what happened and declared three days of mourning. “It is with deep regret that the Municipality of Itabirinha regrets the accident that occurred during one of the races of the 3rd Stage of the Motocross North Cup that unfortunately led to the death of the pilot Douglas Nunes Andreatta, 18 years old, born in Colatina-ES. sincere feelings and regrets. May God comfort all the family members”, he said.
An only child, Douglas was accompanied by his father and two friends. His body was veiled and buried this Monday, in a chapel in Colatina, the city where he lived. As a tribute, friends of the young man accelerated their motorcycles during the wake.
