Operation Control Brazil, led by the Ministry of Justice, resulted in the arrest of 2,800 people from eight states, including Mato Grosso. The action is to combat the illegal trade in beverages, cigarettes and pesticides.

In addition to the arrests, the actions resulted in more than R$973 million in seizures. Among the materials seized are 26.3 million packs of cigarettes, 366.7 thousand units of electronic cigarettes, 245.5 thousand bottles of various beverages, 178 tons of pesticides, 1,295 vehicles, 300 weapons, 9 aircraft and R$ 3, 1 million in cash.

The operation had been launched since June 1st and took place in Mato Grosso, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás and Minas Gerais.

On Thursday (2) the action was concluded in Foz do Iguaçu (PR). Due to inspections, the Ponte da Amizade, on the border with Paraguay, was blocked by traffic for approximately one hour.

The operation had the support of the Federal Police, the Federal Highway Police, Military and Civil Police of the states, the Secretariat of the Federal Revenue and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
