With silver in swimming, Mato Grosso do Sul won the first medal at the 2022 Youth Games. This Saturday (03), the first day of the competition, Amanda Campos Abdallah won silver in the 200-meter butterfly.

The competition is organized by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) and the delegation from Mato Grosso do Sul is coordinated by the Fundação de Desporto e Lazer de Mato Grosso do Sul (Fundesporte).

According to information from Fundesporte, the athlete opened the count for the state in the largest multi-sport event for Brazilian youth athletes.

“I am very happy and proud to be able to win this medal representing my state”, said the swimmer, who receives the state benefit of the Bolsa Atleta.

Amanda is from Corumbá, is 15 years old and currently resides in Campo Grande, already being known for conquering podiums throughout Brazil.

In the Brazilian Interclub Youth Winter Championship last year, Amanda won bronze in the 200 meters, repeating the same medal color at the Gymnasiade (School Olympics), in the 100 and 200 meters.

In 2022, he won silver in the 100 meters at the Confederations Cup.
