A 27-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with the side of a public transport bus in Boa Vista, being thrown under the vehicle and having his head hit by the wheels. The accident happened on Saturday night (3), on Avenida Amazonas, which skirts the Praça do Centro Cívico.
The Military Police reported that they were called around 18:44 and, at the scene, found the victim lying on the ground. His helmet was in pieces.
The 39-year-old bus driver reported that he was traveling along the avenue in the third lane and, when he arrived in front of the Palácio da Cultura, he suffered a collision on the left side of the bus, close to the front wheel.
According to the PM, the victim was heading in the same direction, but in the second lane of the road. After the collision, the motorcyclist was thrown under the bus and had his head hit by the front and rear wheels of the vehicle.
A team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called and a doctor certified the death at the scene of the accident.
The Civil Police forensics was also called to investigate the case. The victim’s body was removed by the Legal Medical Institute (IML).
The bus driver took a breathalyzer test, which gave a negative result for alcohol consumption. He was taken to the 5th Police District.
