The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a red alert, of great danger, for the low relative humidity of the air in the Federal District. The institute’s notice is for the afternoon of this Sunday (4/9), when the index may be lower than 12%. In the early afternoon, around 1 pm, the air humidity in the country’s capital was at 17%, with the temperature at 29.8°C.
At 6 am this Sunday (4/9), humidity reached the highest level of the day and stood at 43%. There is no forecast of rain for the next few days and, throughout this week, the index may reach 10%, on Monday (5/9), and to a maximum of 75%, on Wednesday (7/9). This Sunday (4/9), the capital of the country reached the mark of 120 days without rain.
Inmet’s low humidity warning red alert poses a great risk of forest fires and health, with lung and respiratory diseases and headaches. Therefore, the institute recommends drinking liquids and contacting the Civil Defense (199) and the DF Military Fire Department (193) for more information. The Inmet warning also reaches a good part of Goiás, in addition to the municipalities of Mato-Grosso and Tocantins.
