Electronic voting machines have been made available in some municipalities in Tocantins to simulate voting. The training is provided by the Regional Electoral Court of Tocantins (TRE-TO). Residents of Crixas, Cariri, Aliança and Gurupi have already benefited.
In Gurupi, training takes place in the commercial center of the city. Mrs. Vildean Ferreira attended to ask questions. “It was about missing any of them”, says the micro-entrepreneur.
In training, voters simulate voting for the five candidates. The display time of the photos (of the candidates) on the urn display is slightly longer.
“We had a lot of complaints from voters who pressed the confirmation too quickly and didn’t see the candidate’s photo. So in these elections, you have to press confirm twice in order to proceed to the next candidate. You press the number, confirm, the photo appears and you will see if this is really the candidate, then press confirm again, and proceed to the next candidate”, explains Isabela Sara Nunes, electoral assistant. For the 2022 elections, the polls have news. For example, the urn used in training (see video above) is an updated version in 2020, and for the first time it will be used in voting. In addition to sound communication and Braille, it has the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) – making the process even more accessible.
The other novelty is the “confirm key”, which now needs to be pressed twice to finish voting. The equipment is three times faster than previous models.
