In the midst of the most expressive work of his career as a coach, Paulo Pezzolano is highly praised for the performance he manages to get from the Cruzeiro squad on the field. In an interview with gethe coach talked about what style of play he likes and who, for him, are the best coaches in Brazil today.
Before anyone else, Pezzolano praised Tite. The Cruzeiro coach showed himself to be a fan of the Brazilian coach’s work and revealed a certain fascination with the way the national team plays.
– I like to see the Brazilian team, I really like it. Tite’s Brazilian team is impressive. I really like. Of all the movement it has, the quality it has on the outside. The line knows what it has to do, it doesn’t always want the ball, the player knows that when the ball reaches him, he has to do something, be it one-on-one. I really like Tite’s Brazil.

“Bora de Brasileirão! The biggest offer of games for a price that gives game. Sign the Premiere!”
After Tite, Pezzolano didn’t stay on the fence. He listed the jobs he likes the most in Brazil and which technicians, for him, are on the top shelf. Pezzolano considered Abel Ferrreira as the main role – because of the results -, but he also praised Fernando Diniz, from Fluminense, and Dorival Júnior, from Flamengo.

The coach was also talked about which style of play he likes the most. From the way Cruzeiro plays, the answer was to be expected. Aggressive play, with objectivity.
– I like to see an intense team, if it finds space to attack that attack, if not, rotate the ball to find space. That patience. I like an aggressive team. So I try to get the team to do that. (…) I try to do my (style of play) with a lot of conviction that this is the best.

Cruzeiro’s coach was very sincere about Palmeiras’ work. Adept at the intense game and high block, Paulo Pezzolano praised the way in which the São Paulo team attacks the opponent and defends, even if in a lower block.
– I like the aggressiveness that Palmeiras plays. (…) As much as I don’t like to play in a low block, you see Palmeiras, when they have to defend, they defend in a low block and it’s hard to get in. And there’s a quality of players who, when they go out in a transition, kill you. So you have to know how to play against these teams too.
Asked who is the best coach in Brazil today, Pezzolano didn’t stay on top of the world and said that, for him, it’s Abel Ferreira. The reasons are the team’s style of play and the results it has guaranteed over the last few seasons.
“In how the team is doing, titles and everything, I think Abel Ferreira is better today”, said Paulo Pezzolano
In addition to Abel Ferreira, the celestial commander cited the work of Fernando Diniz as one of the most distinguished he knows. Pezzolano also pointed out what he would do differently, but revealed that it’s a way of playing he’s never seen anywhere in the world.
– I like the possession of the ball that Fluminense de Diniz has, but he always has it on his side. I like the more balanced possession, but I like it (the style of play) because it’s difficult to deliver the ball. They play different, I’ve never seen them in the world, they play with seven, eight players on the line.

Dorival Júnior was also not left out of Pezzolano’s “list”. The coach of Cruzeiro today considered Flamengo as the best team in Brazil on the field, despite Palmeiras having better results, according to him.
“I think Flamengo is a team from Dorival that is impressive, a very tough team. I think it will win a lot. Today, I consider Flamengo better than Palmeiras, but in terms of numbers, Palmeiras is better”, he said.
