After attacking journalist Vera Magalhes from TV Cultura and candidate Simone Tebet (MDB) during the debate with the presidential candidates held by TV Bandeirantes on Sunday (28/8), President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) took to social media this Friday ( 2/9) defend himself from the criticism he received for his stance.

“I have already been interviewed by several professionals, men and women, many contrary to my values, but who, for carrying out their work seriously, without insults or veiled offenses, were treated with the same good faith. respect,” he argued on Twitter. Bolsonaro hinted that he did not like Vera’s tone on the occasion, which he interpreted as a “provocation”. “Whoever provokes must be ready to be provoked,” he wrote.

Vera Magalhes was attacked by Jair Bolsonaro after directing a question to candidate Ciro Gomes (PDT), with a comment from the president, in which she claims that the current government official spread misinformation about vaccines, which may have contributed to worsening the covid pandemic and promoting suspicion about the effectiveness of immunizations. Bolsonaro ignored the issue about vaccines and offended the journalist.

“Vera couldn’t expect anything else from you. I think you sleep thinking about me. You must have some crush on me. You cannot take sides in a debate. A disgrace to Brazilian journalism”, fired the president, who ended the matter with criticism of Anitta and praise for the women who occupy positions in the Federal Executive.

“I have always defended that people should be valued for their character. It is through work and values, not color, sex or class, that everyone’s respect is earned. Princess Isabel and Anita are women, the difference is in what they decided to do for humanity,” he posted.
